ENTRY

Fearow is the Beak Pokémon, a Normal and Flying type that made its debut in the original generation of Pokémon games, sharing its early route territory with Spearow, its smaller and more commonly encountered predecessor. Standing close to four feet in height, Fearow is a large, imposing avian with predominantly brown plumage across its body and broad, powerful wings that span considerably wider than its body length. Its most distinctive feature is its elongated, sharp pink beak, the trait that defines its species category and the tool it wields with remarkable speed and force. A ruffled ring of reddish and cream-colored feathers encircles the base of its long, slender neck, lending it an almost aristocratic bearing. Its face carries prominent pinkish-red tones, and its eyes are keen and alert. Next to a human, Fearow stands at roughly waist height, though in the air, its broad wings give it a silhouette that is difficult to mistake.

Fearow inhabits rough terrain: open fields, scrublands, rocky expanses, and lightly forested edges where prey is accessible and the sky overhead is unobstructed. It is most strongly associated with the Kanto region, where populations have been observed along well-traveled routes cutting through open grassland and into more elevated, rocky corridors. Fearow is overwhelmingly solitary for most of the year, establishing wide aerial territories that it patrols on long, looping circuits high above the ground. Being a diurnal hunter, it takes full advantage of clear skies and its naturally sharp vision to detect prey movement far below. While it does not migrate in any regular seasonal pattern, individual Fearow are known to expand their range considerably during lean periods when prey grows scarce. Unlike many avian Pokémon that roost communally, Fearow almost always sleeps and hunts alone.

Fearow is an active carnivore, using its long beak like a jabbing weapon to strike at small Pokémon, insects, and fish near open water. Field researchers have documented its beak strikes as extraordinarily quick and precise, with Fearow able to deliver a rapid sequence of stabs before prey can escape or mount a defense. In temperament, it is aggressive and territorial, notably more combative than the smaller Spearow it evolved from. Intruders that enter its claimed airspace or approach its nesting ground, whether wild Pokémon or humans, are challenged directly and without hesitation. Trainers who have successfully bonded with Fearow describe it as fiercely independent and slow to extend loyalty, but deeply committed once trust is finally earned. During breeding season, mated pairs establish nests on elevated rocky ledges and alternate shifts guarding the eggs with unwavering attention.

In battle, Fearow is a physical attacker with excellent speed, allowing it to act ahead of the majority of its opponents and apply pressure before they can respond. Its standard ability, Keen Eye, ensures that no opposing move or weather condition can lower its accuracy, preserving its effectiveness across prolonged exchanges where moves like Sand Attack would otherwise erode a combatant's precision over time. Its hidden ability, Sniper, raises the damage multiplier of critical hits so that they deal three times normal damage rather than the standard two, which rewards play patterns oriented around landing those high-leverage strikes. Being a Normal and Flying type, Fearow cannot be touched by Ground-type moves, but it remains vulnerable to Fighting, Rock, Electric, and Ice attacks, all of which demand careful positioning and swift play. Its move Drill Peck channels its beak into a spiraling strike that makes full use of its considerable physical power.

Fearow represents the final stage of a two-step evolutionary line, emerging from Spearow once that smaller Pokémon reaches level twenty. The transformation is substantial: Fearow gains a dramatic increase in size, beak length, and wingspan, along with a significant shift in temperament from reckless aggression toward calculated ferocity. No further evolution exists beyond Fearow. It holds a notably early position in the Pokédex, and for many trainers beginning their journey through Kanto, it is among the first powerful bird Pokémon they encounter in the wild. Researchers remain particularly interested in its documented flight endurance, the ability to remain airborne for extraordinary stretches of time without landing to rest, a physiological feat whose underlying mechanisms are still under active investigation by field biologists and Pokémon scientists alike.
