ENTRY

Granbull is the Fairy Pokémon, a pure Fairy-type species that first appeared in the second generation. Standing upright on two stout legs, it presents a formidable silhouette a stocky, bulldog-inspired creature roughly as tall as an adult human's chest, draped in a distinctive lavender-purple hide covered with small pink spots. Its most defining feature is its enormous lower jaw, which juts forward dramatically and bears two large pale fangs that curve upward past the muzzle. The face is heavily wrinkled, and the deep-set eyes give it a perpetually fierce expression. A broad, muscular torso tapers into short, powerful arms and a small curved tail. Despite this imposing appearance, Granbull is notably compact and dense rather than towering, which makes it appear even more formidable at close range.

Granbull is found primarily in urban and residential environments, having adapted well to life alongside human civilization. It tends to inhabit towns, city outskirts, and the quieter alleys of populated areas, where it can find shelter among buildings and access to food left by people. It is not commonly encountered in deep wilderness or mountainous terrain, preferring the familiar rhythms of settled communities. Population density tends to be low, as Granbull are not social creatures by nature and typically live in solitude or in small, loosely affiliated groups. They are active during the day and settle into sheltered spots at night. In regions with colder climates, Granbull seek out warm corners of human structures, and trainers across Johto have long reported spotting them near market districts and garden parks.

Despite its fearsome exterior, Granbull is at heart a timid and easily startled Pokémon. Its imposing face and jutting fangs cause many wild Pokémon and even humans to back away in alarm, which works entirely to Granbull's benefit, because it would much rather avoid confrontation than seek it out. When it feels cornered or threatened, it resorts to flailing its arms wildly in an instinctive panic response rather than launching a calculated attack. Field observers note that Granbull can be quite affectionate with humans it trusts, behaving much like a loyal companion animal. It is omnivorous, foraging for fruit, small insects, and scraps it finds within its urban territory. Granbull communicates through low guttural rumbles and occasional yelps, and it is known to bond strongly with trainers who approach it with patience and calm.

In battle, Granbull relies heavily on its physical strength. Its most formidable natural ability is Intimidate, which causes opponents to flinch at the very sight of Granbull entering the field, immediately lowering their physical attack power before a single move is exchanged. This ability pairs well with Granbull's capacity to absorb punishment, though its defenses are only moderate. Its second standard ability, Quick Feet, transforms a status ailment such as paralysis or poison into a surprising burst of speed, converting what should be a disadvantage into tactical momentum. The hidden ability, Rattled, triggers a speed boost whenever Granbull is struck by a Dark, Ghost, or Bug-type move, punishing opponents who rely on such coverage. As a pure Fairy type, Granbull is completely immune to Dragon-type moves and resists Fighting, Bug, and Dark attacks effectively. It is, however, vulnerable to Poison and Steel-type moves, which can cut through its Fairy typing with ease. Granbull is relatively slow under normal conditions, making it best suited to situations where one of its abilities has already ignited a speed advantage before it presses forward with powerful physical strikes.

Granbull is the final form in a two-stage evolutionary line, having developed from Snubbull, a smaller pink bulldog-like Fairy Pokémon that reaches this form at level twenty-three. The transition is marked by a dramatic increase in size, musculature, and the growth of those signature oversize fangs, reflecting a shift from a comparatively approachable creature to one that commands immediate attention. Introduced in the second generation, Granbull occupies a fascinating ecological niche as an urban Fairy type that blurs the boundary between intimidating predator and endearing companion. Researchers are particularly interested in it because its Intimidate ability manifests so early in any interaction, suggesting that psychological deterrence evolved as its primary survival strategy rather than outright physical aggression. Trainers who invest time in earning Granbull's trust consistently report gaining a deeply loyal partner, making this species a subject of both scientific curiosity and genuine affection in the field.
